Participating artists: A.S. Ashley, Lisa Bartleson, Joe Davidson, Doug Edge, Eric Johnson, , Rachel Kaster and Ron Reihel.
The exhibition, Liquid Gold is an opportunity to display the flexibility and range of resin. In the past, the “Finish Fetish” movement of the 60s and 70s pigeonholed what resin was supposed to be all about. But there was other equally and sometimes more interesting art being made. One of these artists, Doug Edge, offered a different point of view. The other participants produce work using a wide range of material application. Available today are many types of resins that several of the artists use. Old-school polyester resin, polyurethane, epoxy resin and bio resin. This variety was not available to the artists of the 60s and the 70s so of course, the work has changed with its flexibility. My hope is to open up viewers’ eyes to resin as a fundamental tool of contemporary Art.
